Traditional use: Used since ancient Greek and Roman times as an adrenal tonic and mood lifter, it has traditionally been prescribed for fevers, respiratory catarrh, relieving stress and melancholy, and as a galactagogue to support milk production. 

Potential benefits: Borage seed oil is exceptionally rich in GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), supporting skin health, hormonal balance, and inflammation regulation; the herb itself offers adrenal support and mild anti-inflammatory and diuretic activity.

Warnings: Aerial parts contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) — avoid internal use of the herb long-term; borage seed oil is PA-free and considered safe; contraindicated in pregnancy and liver disease; may interact with blood-thinning medications.
